Can you believe that 2021 has finally arrived? I am not sure about you friends, but I am believing that this year will bring progressive change, great health and meaningful collaborations. We have all suffered in the midst of racial injustice, a pandemic, and the misuse of power. I hope that through these trials that we have all learned to put our mental health first, to reach higher toward our goals, and find gratitude in the smaller everyday things in life. May you be encouraged to use the inspiration that you find within yourself and others to support wellbeing and wellness in your daily walk. Together we can learn and grow from our collective stories, experiences, and accomplishments!
I wanted to recognize a trailblazer who as a mother, entrepreneur, program developer and music instructor is bringing light to our country. Kybra Minisee is a trained violinist, who’s education includes a Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry and a Masters of Science in Food Science and Technology. Her lived experiences, as well as her scholarly training has given her the fuel to impact her community through music and entrepreneurship. At an early age, Kybra recognized the importance of music and business, and in her sophomore year of high school began teaching private lessons from her own studio.
Kybra has played for Colin Powel, Judge Joe Brown, and the California Association of Black Lawyers. She has also performed internationally and domestically. Those performances have included notable artists such as Solange, Phil Wickman, Jon Foreman, Israel Houghton, Switchfoot, and RY-X.
Kybra’s tenacity and strive for excellence can be seen through both her blossoming companies, Crescendo Conservatory of Arts as well as her nonprofit organization Love Notes Alliance. When asked, what inspires her the most, she gracefully left me with some tokens of wisdom:
“I am inspired by the creativity, the innovation, brilliance, and the resiliency of my people. With every obstacle and system created to destroy us-yet still we rise. I am also inspired and slightly obsessed with the potential for greatness possessed by each child. It is my goal to ignite confidence, passion, and excellence in my students.”
Ajaba Naturals and the Wellness Corner with Cassandra wants you to know that we see you Kybra Minisee and recognize your positive impact on all the communities in which you serve. Thank you for being a Trailblazer who inspires us through music, self-care, and ambition.
Here’s one of my favorite smoothie recipes to inspire good health, beauty and the light inside of you
Place all ingredients into the blender. Blend on high for 2 minutes. Remove from the blender and enjoy!
This week friends take a little time out for yourself to be inspired. Run a warm bath and indulge in some much needed self-care. Open your mind to new possibilities of love, success, healing and joy. To help get you started in the process I wanted to share one of my favorite lavender soaps listed on the Ajaba Naturals website. “Lavender- the color and scent for relaxation, youthfulness, creativity, imagination and optimism”, dates back over 2000 years ago. Friends I am so excited about the Cyber Monday, Black Friday and clearance sales that are soon approaching. However, my growing concern lies with how much it will all cost me. So, if you are feeling the same way about how much to spend, where to spend and whom to spend on, we are in the same boat. Purchasing items for family, friends, and co workers does not have to be a financial burden if you plan ahead with a strategic budget!
First make a list of everyone you wish to buy gifts for. Place them in categories such as family, friends and coworkers. Assign a dollar amount that you would like to stay in range of for each category. Then divide your targeted amount by the number of people listed. For instance, if your friend’s category has a dollar amount of 100.00 available for spending and you have 5 friends your equation will look like 100 divided by 5, giving you approximately, 20 dollars to spend on each person. Remember this number includes your allotted tax as well! Repeat the same process for the family category as well as the coworker’s category.
Once your categories have been completed and a dollar amount has been given to each person, now the fun part begins. Start looking at online catalogs for Cyber Monday and Black Friday deals.Take pictures of the items that catch your eye and work for your budget. Don’t stress out about trying to be super creative, it is totally fine to buy everyone in each of the categories the same or very similar items. Remember, we are trying to take the financial and emotional stress out of gift giving!
Once you've decided on a gift for each category, plan a date to order everything all at the same time. Make sure to look at online catalogs to find out when and where the best sales are. Purchasing a majority of your items at the same will save you a few dollars on shipping cost because many online vendors are offering free shipping for Black Friday, with low minimum purchase requirements.
Have fun friends, do not let money or the need to please others take your Joy. This season is truly about giving thanks to our Savior, and loving on the people that mean the most to us. So, whether your budget for spending is $100 or $1000 dollars, keep it all wrapped in gratitude and love! And if the financial hardships of this year have put you in a situation where you just cannot give, a warm card, phone call, or even a loving favor will work just as well!
Combine all your ingredients into the blender. Blend until you get to your desired consistency. Pour mixture into a glass and enjoy. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon for some added flavor.
Friends, don’t forget to check out Ajaba Naturals for amazing and affordable, cozy scarves, beanies, and warm socks for the family. Place a few of these items on you shopping list for a few of those special people you are shopping for. And if you’re feeling really special, grab a customizable gift and send it to someone you love! While you're at it, grab a little something for yourself because you deserve it! Look for upcoming specials and deals this week!
I'm not sure about you friends; however, I am so happy fall is here! My wool coats, scarves, and those cute fury boots can make their way back to the front of my closet. It is the time of year where lattes, cocoas and other blazing hot drinks are well worth the 20 minute wait at my favorite local coffee shop. (Remember to support local small businesses!) I was born the first week of October, so the sentiment I share for fall has been rooted since birth! Fall offers a break we need from the sweltering heat of summer and prepares us for all the fun that comes with the holiday season.
As we transition into fall, friends let us transition our hearts to the possibility of new and exciting things to come this holiday season. I have chosen to ground myself in gratitude, love, and purpose. Appreciation does not mean that I will not be enjoying the fabulous holiday sales and clearance bins; however, it does mean that I will firmly ground my gift-giving, cooking, and traditions in purpose.
So spread the love this fall season. Fill your homes with brown, orange, and red decor. Make yard chores fun with your family! Fall into the leaves, bake spiced pumpkin treats, and create new traditions with your family. Staying optimistic, kind, and cheerful will lead you to absolute joy. Remember, keep gratefulness in your heart and find ways to volunteer in your community. Many families have suffered tremendously from the year’s hardships. Giving to others is truly, the gift that keeps on giving.
Grab a bowl and combine the brown and white sugar, flour, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt. Next, add the milk, eggs, butter, and pumpkin puree. Mix until the ingredients are wet and moist. Do not over mix. Grab a skillet and spray the skillet with cooking spray. Turn the heat up to medium. When the skillet is nicely coated and warm, spoon about a ¼ cup of the mixture into the skillet in a circle. Wait until bubbles form on top of the pancake. Flip the pancake over and allow the pancake to brown on the other side, then remove from skillet and place to the side. Repeat this step until all your batter is cooked. Place your cooked pancakes on top of a plate, sprinkle some cinnamon on top, and enjoy!

Ajaba Naturals has beautiful gift wrapping and personalization options to make your gift a little more special! So order now, and get an earlier start on holiday shopping!
Welcome to another week on the Wellness Corner with Cassandra. This week I wanted to talk about Chamomile and its many health benefits. According to WebMD, “chamomile has been used as a traditional medicine for years to calm anxiety and settle stomachs.” But it doesn’t stop there. Chamomile has also been connected to helping with skin irritation, diarrhea, and hemorrhoids. Chamomile can come in the form of supplements, teas, and oils. It is packed with antioxidants and has been around for generations as a natural form of medication and healing.
Chamomile, according to Healthline, is “a herb that comes from daisy-like flowers of the Asteraceae plant family, dried and infused into hot water.” Chamomile teas are made from a combination of these flowers. Oftentimes you can find chamomile teas paired with other plants and herbs such as lavender, that provide additional health benefits. Honey, vanilla and other natural flavors are often added to create a smooth taste. Chamomile can be used as an alternative to more sugary and caffeinated beverages. Chamomile can be found in several oils from various companies that sell essential oils. Please make sure that you do your research and find brands that sell oils that have integrity. There are also chamomile supplements out on the market to take. (There is not a whole lot of research surrounding the research of the supplements at this time) If it is okay with your doctor, I think just having an old fashion cup of tea would be most beneficial when using chamomile as a sleep aid, or for relaxation and calming purposes.
Chamomile is a very smooth, comforting, and inexpensive tea. The delicious smell and rich flavor are a great treat after a long and exhausting day. It can also be part of your evening routine. It pairs well with lemon and sugar cookies, macaroons, and gingersnaps. With everything going on around us in these times, it is so important to take out small moments for yourself. Jump on a virtual meeting with a family member or friend and enjoy unwinding while your body gets ready for a good night’s sleep. Create an environment in your house that is quiet, and calm. Sip your tea and allow the day's stress to roll off you.
Cooking spray
2Cups flour
1 egg
2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sugar
1 stick of unsalted butter
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon baking powder
Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Cream butter and sugar. Next, Add your vanilla and egg. Whisk flour into the mixture until all ingredients are equally combined. Separate the dough into two parts. Use a roller to roll the dough into two circles. Place each circular formation into its own plastic Ziploc bag. Place into the freezer for 30 minutes. Set your oven to 325 degrees. Take the dough from the freezer, place on a non-stick surface and spread. Grab your favorite cookie cutters and cup out cookie shapes. Add cooking spray to your baking pans and place cookies on the sheet. Bake cookies for 11-15 minutes. Remove from the oven. (As an option, you may add sprinkles or powdered sugar to garnish.) Allow to cool and enjoy!
Friends as we start this new week. Make time for a relaxing bath. One of my favorite scents is the Ajaba Naturals Citrus Spa All Natural Bath Soak. After having your chamomile tea and your delicious cookie. Run a nice warm bath and allow the scent of the bath soak to calm and relax you. The soak has Epsom salt, vitamin E, dried flowers, orange peel, and much more! Allow your body to enjoy this luxurious bath soak. You will love the beautiful jar the soak comes in. It would also make a perfect gift for a friend!
Welcome to another week on the Wellness Corner with Cassandra. This week I want to talk about letting go and how that affects our wellness. It can feel necessary at times to hold on to unhealthy relationships that affect your wellbeing and wellness. Toxic relationships can come in the form of friends, family and love interests. Instead of setting boundaries and holding people accountable in life, so often excuses are made for them that allow individuals to continue with their behaviors. Changing your mind about the situation, and developing the attitude that, I am not a savior, and that only the Savior in heaven, can save them, will lead you in the direction of peace. I am sure you have all heard the saying, "We teach people how to treat us." As cliché as it might be, it is full of truth. If you do not stand up for you, who will? I mean, there is that rare chance of your knight in shining armor coming and whisking you away from all your problems, however, even he cannot change the regard you have for yourself!
Examine the friends and romantic relations you have in your life. Are these relationships serving you in a way that is nurturing and loving? Are you always in conflict with specific individuals? Do you find yourself having to prove your worth and value? Are you communicating with people who still see the worst in you; however, they continue to make excuses for their wrongful behaviors? If you have answered yes to over half of these questions, it is time to clean up the people you allow in your personal space. People that genuinely love you accept you for who you are. They are not looking to change you into something that makes them more comfortable. Real friendships and love relationships are built on commitment, support, and truth. And if you see signs of alcoholism, and other co-dependencies in people you are trying to love, accept that you cannot change them. They are the only ones who can change themselves. And if they wish to continue with these harmful behaviors, pray for them, set boundaries, and move on with your life.
Forgive yourself for the time you have wasted in toxic relationships. Give yourself some love and appreciation for acknowledging them and moving forward from them! Treat yourself to things that make you happy. When you are ready to bring people into your life again, make sure they make you smile and laugh. This is not an easy task friends and takes lots of practice, but I believe it is possible. Trust that you deserve the best and that letting go is okay.
Once you have made a decision, don't look back! There will be times when you feel you are strong enough to endure the pain, however, remember it is not worth your time or effort. People will oftentimes show you their best self, only to get what they want from you. Do not keep people around that do not value you and find ways to hurt you any opportunity they get. Keep moving and looking forward! Love yourself enough to know when it's enough. Always wish the best for others, and keep it pushing forward!
Sometimes you need comfort food. Something that helps fill you both physically and spiritually. I like potatoes for this! Especially red skin potatoes and red skin potatoes have lots of vitamin C. Here is a delicious and healthy recipe to try!
2 Cups of red skin potatoes diced
1 and 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil
½ teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon coarse black pepper
½ teaspoon parsley flakes
½ teaspoon thyme
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Cooking spray
Set the oven to 450 degrees. Grab a bowl, and place your potatoes inside the bowl. Pour the olive oil on top of the potatoes so that each potato is coated. Next, add the garlic salt, black pepper, thyme, and garlic powder and stir the mixture all together. Remove the potatoes from the bowl and place it on a cooking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Sprinkle parsley flakes on top of the potatoes. Bake for 25 minutes or until the potatoes have a golden color to them. Remove from the oven, plate them, and enjoy!
This week friends I have been using the Ajaba Naturals Coffee Face Scrub, and I am in love. It is a mild exfoliation scrub that smells great! I use it a couple of times a week because my skin tends to be on the drier side, however when I use it, my skin feels soft. Remember always to moisturize directly after to hold in your moisture. The coffee scent is energizing and gives me the uplift that I need in the morning before starting my day. And friends, since we are starting fresh; let's do it with a fresh face!
Welcome back to another week on the Wellness Corner with Cassandra. This week I wanted to explore Art therapy and how it can be helpful to your Wellness and Wellbeing. Have you ever sat down with young children and just colored from a coloring book or page? Do you remember how calming and relaxing it felt to glide the crayon across the pages and allow your mind to be free from the day's stress? Or have you ever started a home improvement project that involved painting? These are some fantastic ways to use color and art to release emotions and stressful feelings, while contributing to your overall state of Wellness.
According to arttherapy.org
“Art therapy is used to improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distress, and advance societal and ecological change."
Art therapists are highly trained clinicians who work to serve individuals who require coping with mental health, emotional, and spiritual growth. Art therapy is found in private offices, universities, public schools, and art studios, to name a few. And as we navigate state closures, more online sources are becoming available and more accessible. Arttherapy.org states that art therapy focuses more on "the inner experience" of one versus technique. Which allows a person to become fully engage in what they are feeling in the moment. Art therapy is linked to helping individuals who suffer from trauma, violence, and other psychological impairments. Because of its gentle and versatile approach, Art Therapy can be beneficial for both men and women as well as children and the elderly. It has also been used in rehabilitations center, correctional facilities, and hospitals.
A great way to begin researching Art therapy and see if it fits into your lifestyle would be to research facilities in your area that offer programs. And even if you cannot get to a studio, or health care office, school, etc., taking an alternative route by finding an online Art studio that promotes wellness through art would be a great choice as well. Art is a fun way to connect with family members and friends and check in on the ones we love during this time. So grab your Aunties, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents and get to painting!
I understand that finances can be a little tight in these times, so if you are unable to pay for an Art Therapy session or class. Get creative at home by painting an old cardboard box, grocery bags, or paper towel holders. You can also keep it super simple, grab some white paper and colored pencils, and tune into Youtube for some coloring and drawing tutorials. And for parents, Grab your kids, sit with them, and do some old fashion coloring in their coloring books. Having these connections with your children in this season is essential. Trust me friends, taking care of your wellness does not always have to cost a lot. It just takes your commitment!
Follow the directions to prepare 24 cupcakes located on the back of the cake mix box. Removed baked cupcakes from pan and allow them 30 minutes to cool. After cupcakes have cooled, add two tablespoons of frosting to each cupcake and add sprinkles. Top the cake with a strawberry and repeat this process until all the cupcakes are completed. Share with a friend and enjoy!
This past week I have enjoyed the summer through water play; however, it has been drying my skin. So after showering in the evening, I grab my Ajaba Naturals Homemade Rose, Lily, and Grapefruit Ultra Nourishing whipped Body Butter and apply it to my skin. Its coconut oil, mango, and shea butter rejuvenate my skin and allow it to feel moisturized again. And did I mention that it smells delightful? A little goes a long way with the body butter, so add it to those parts of your body that can benefit from a bit of rejuvenation. Ajaba Naturals does not add fillers to their products, only quality oils and butters that hydrate and provides incredible benefits to your skin.
Welcome to another a week on the Wellness Corner with Cassandra. This week I felt that it was crucial to talk about anxiety. In the last couple of weeks, more closures have started to occur, more individuals are working from home, and school-aged children are continuing distant learning for the coming school year. As our lifestyles are changed daily, it can cause some fear and worry to arise. Uncertainty is not an easy thing to come to terms with, and many are struggling alone and in silence. Some are going to great extremes to take precautions to maintain their health, at the cost of their sanity. Fear is on the rise and keeping people isolated and afraid. The fear of spreading and contracting COVID-19 has many worried and feeling helpless. And for those that may not be feeling helpless, the anticipation of what is to come can be exceptionally stressful.
According to Merriam-Webster.com, anxiety is “an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physical signs.” It is also defined as self-doubting with concerns of reality, and one’s capacity to cope. Anxiety can give an overwhelming sense of hopelessness, causing one to feel as though they lack control of their emotions or feelings. And because we are enduring so much in these times, these emotions can come weekly and even daily. Emotions that are not being discussed can become buried in overachieving at work, or having the opposite feeling of fatigue, lack of energy, and motivation. Wherever you stand in these emotions, you are not alone.
Hey friends, try answering a few of these questions to check in on your emotions in your free time.
Here are a few healthy ways to improve anxiety levels
Stay encouraged through these times, friends! Have faith that we will see better days. If your anxiety persists or if your anxious feelings last weeks at a time without improving, I suggest seeing a medical provider or licensed counselor. Pay attention to your body. And never be afraid to get the extra help you may need!
Bell Peppers have been linked to helping with anxiety. Here is an easy stir fry recipe.
One green Bell Pepper
1 yellow Bell Pepper
1 red Bell Pepper
1 tablespoon Olive Oil
¼ of a whole brown onion
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 clove garlic minced
Slice the green, yellow, and red bell peppers. Next, slice the onion. Add Olive oil to your skillet and allow the oil to warm. Add minced garlic to the skillet, and stir. Next, add sliced bell peppers and onions. Lastly, add garlic salt and black pepper. Stir again. Allow the mixture to cook for 7 to 10 minutes. Once the peppers are at your desired consistency, remove from heat, add to the plate, and enjoy.
I suggest trying the Ajaba Naturals Lavender & Chamomile body oil. Though it was formulated with children in mind, it is a helpful relaxation oil for adults. I recommend applying the oil to the back of your neck, arms, and belly right before bedtime after a warm shower or bath. As the oils work into your skin, find a quiet place where you can get comfortable and lay your head. Take deep breaths and allow all the stress of the day to clear from your mind and thoughts. Intake the scent of lavender, close your eyes and rest. Repeat this as many times as you may need during the week to help relax. I strongly suggest purchasing an Ajaba Naturals Candle in any of their beautiful scents to create an even more relaxing environment. I am in love with how elegant they look and how great the smells make me feel!
This week I want to take a look at vitamin D and the many benefits on our bones, skin, and mental health. According to mayoclinic.org, “your body makes vitamin D when direct sunlight converts a chemical in your skin into an active form of the vitamin.” Unfortunately, vitamin D is not present in many foods. However, the good news is that some cereals, milk, and orange juice items are fortified with it. Furthermore, fish lovers might be in luck because vitamin D is found in sardines, mackerel, tuna, and salmon. If for some reason, none of these options are your thing, some supplements can assist you with your vitamin D goals. Vitamin D comes in two supplemental forms. D2 can be found in plant products, and D3 is found in animal products. Before starting any supplement, please see a doctor and have lab work done to see where your levels are first. (It may be an excellent time to see your doctor for a physical if you have not been in for a while). Your lab work will indicate the amount that you need, to alleviate you having to do any guess work.
Research has shown that people that live in northern regions, those that remain indoors more often, and those that have more melanin in their skin could be at risk for lower levels of vitamin D. Pay close attention to your body. During this quarantine season, if you are getting out into the sun less and spending less time outdoors, you may want to increase this. It is so beneficial to your body to get some sun on your skin. When the sunlight hits your skin, vitamin D begins its production course in the body for most people. If you live in regions where the summer heat is brutal during the midday, try an early morning walk when the sun is just getting up, or afternoon walks before the sunsets. Having dinner or breakfast on the porch or outside on a cozy chair in the back yard may affect your overall health. And your vitamin D absorption. Please protect your skin with sunscreen, and soak up some sunlight!
According to the Harvard School of Public Health, "vitamin D can reduce cancer cell growth, help control infections and reduce inflammation. Many of the body's organs and tissues have receptors for vitamin D, which also suggest important roles beyond bone health." Vitamin D has been linked to mental, emotional health, and reports show that deficient levels may affect the body's depression symptoms. Vitamin D has also been said to help increase bone strength, decreasing some risk for bone-related diseases.
1 cup strawberry yogurt
1/3 cup chopped Strawberries
Add 1 cup of strawberry yogurt to bowl. Next add chopped strawberries on top. Grab a spoon and enjoy. For the best experience, sit out in the yard or on the porch and grab some sunlight while eating this delicious dessert.
I have been using one of my favorite Ajaba Naturals body mist sprays, Peach Thyme and Grapefruit, this week. This body mist has such an uplifting scent that helps to get my morning going. First I spray the mist directly in front of me into the air, then I spray it on my wrists, chest, and back. The scent stays on well, and any time during the day I need to refresh, I just grab the mist and respray on those areas for a little touch-up. This spray is beautiful to wear over the summer when just a touch of scent is preferred. The Ajaba Naturals Peach Thyme and Grapefruit body spray is perfect for those looking for a great scent that pairs well with all the Ajaba Naturals lotions and body oils. Order this spray today, and trust me you will not be disappointed. Please send me a comment about it friends, and let me know what you think of it. I guarantee you will want to add it to your body mist collection!
Welcome back to another week on the Wellness corner with Cassandra. I hope you are having a fantastic Fourth of July weekend celebration with loved ones! Please stay safe by practicing CDC guidelines for social distancing and always be mindful of your health and others' health.
This week I want to talk about finding Wellness through friendship. In a time where we are quarantined in our homes and isolated from family and friends, it is sometimes tricky to nurture these relations. However, with technology, we can host zoom appointments and face time sessions with those we love. Drive-by birthday celebrations, graduations, and anniversaries have also become prevalent trends over the last four months.
Typical day to day interaction has always been a staple for the American way of life. From crowded beaches, malls, amusement parks, stadiums, etc.
Great American pastimes have always centered around large gatherings with people we love. And in this season, it can be complicated for most to cope with the change. To keep some form of normalcy to your social regimen, I suggest creating designated times where you call, or video time close friends and family.
Get creative about where these phones call to take place. Go outside to the yard, favorite hiking trail, or the grocery store. Bring your friends and loved ones along with you so that these virtual visits feel more organic.
There is a lot of uncertainty about when things will return to normal, however during this pause in our American way of life, choose to nurture and build your friendships. You would be surprised by how many people could use some extra love right now. Loss is something we have all had to deal with in this current season of life, from jobs, wages, business, travel, and people we love. Though we do not have control over a lot of what is happening, we can keep our friendships secure. By doing so, we increase our wellbeing by maintaining a source of consistency in our lives. Consistency reassures our hearts that there is hope and that we can look toward the future for better days.
This week, friends, I challenge you to reach out to an old friend and reconnect over a virtual cup of coffee or tea. Please keep aging and elderly friends in mind too! They might need a store run or even a delicious complimentary to-go meal. Please stay connected friends, and unified, as we make it through summertime and months to come. The more love and compassion you give, the more love you will find returned right back into your very own heart.
6 cups Rice Krispies
3 tablespoons butter
2 bags of M&M candies (separate the blue and red and set aside)
1 pack 16 oz bag of mini marshmallows
Star Cookie Cutters
Combine marshmallows and butter into a large microwavable bowl. Heat for 1 minute, stir and repeat. Remove bowl from microwave, add Rice Krispies cereal and stir. Remove mixture from bowl and add to wax paper. Use the star cut-outs to create star shapes with the Rice Krispies mixture. Place individual star shapes on a plate and decorate in your favorite patterns with the red and blue M&Ms you placed aside. Have fun, get creative, and enjoy!
This week I am excited about Ajaba Naturals soy wax candle entitled The American. The aroma of apples and bourbon creates a warm and savory scent that will fill your home or office with succulent summer vibes! This beautiful candle is layered red, white and blue, and has gorgeous accented starfish on top of the clear wax. It is aesthetically appealing, and also fosters a message behind its symbol of unity for ALL Americans. The candle’s message hopes to discard the divisive nature patriotism has been used for in the past, (that has disconnected and disenfranchised many groups), and instead create a conversation that is more inclusive, liberating, and loving in nature. The American represents ALL Americans, regardless of race, gender, or class. The American is you. The American is me. The American represents hope, unity, and the movement toward systemic change. Let it be the hope to light the flame inside you!
Buy one for yourself, and one for a friend. Choose a time of the day where you both light your candles at the same time and allow the harmonious scent to take you back to great times at cookouts and social gatherings together.
Create an atmosphere that elevates your mood and overall well-being, and keep working toward progressive and lasting change.
Welcome to another week on the Wellness Corner With Cassandra. This week, let’s take a look at dental care and how it relates directly to your health and Wellbeing.
Do you dread dental visits? The variable copayment associated with the appointment can be annoying, as well as the long wait times and the unexpected out of pocket costs can be a burden. The pain, drilling, and having to keep your mouth utterly wide open while your dentist sticks metal objects into small crevasses in between your teeth can be undesirable, yet necessary. Though I have not created the most picturesque dental office experience; dental check-ups are so essential to your health. The longer you wait in-between visits, the scarier these visits can become.
Have you ever taken a moment to think about how your teeth affect your mental and emotional health? For instance, if you like your smile, you are more likely to smile instead of feeling self-conscious about yourself.
And when we laugh, we tell others and our brain that we are happy. If you are not smiling, you are indirectly telling your mind that you are not satisfied. Therefore, let’s take care of our smile so that we feel comfortable sharing it with others, to build our confidence and increase our overall wellness. We all benefit from smiles. And your smile is essential!
According to CDC.gov, 1 in 4 Americans have tooth decay that has gone untreated, and 46 % of adults aged 30 and above show signs of gum disease. These statistics are disturbing and warrant immediate attention and change. Gum disease, cavities, and some oral cancers can disrupt your health if not treated immediately, leading to more severe complications in the body. Also, did you know that chronic pain and inflammation can lead to poor dental health? Granted, I understand that there are several factors that we cannot control with oral hygiene, such as aging, and the side effects that some medication has on our bodies. However, there are some preventative methods that we can take, in hopes to improve oral health, and increase self-esteem, when it comes to our smile.
According to cdc.gov, here are a few tips to assist with your oral health:
Great dental providers are essential! If you like your dentist, you will be more likely to go back and see that provider regularly. I remember researching my last dentist for months. I interviewed family members that received treatment from him, read reviews, and even checked out his mission statement before choosing to make an appointment with him. When I finally made it into his office, I was impressed by the professional care I was given. I was also delighted with the referral he gave me to the oral surgeon that performed my surgery.
Furthermore, friends, get to the dentist regularly and take care of your teeth from home in-between visits by brushing, flossing, and rinsing. Make tooth care something fun, and if you have small children, play music for them as they clean their teeth. Make your oral health a priority. Decrease your risk for certain periodontal diseases and boost your overall confidence, at work, play, and while engaging with others.
Parsley is linked to helping strengthen teeth. Here is an easy sauté to incorporate into your diet.
Remove skillet from heat. Serve immediately. And Enjoy!
Friends, while you are taking care of your teeth this week, please do not forget about your lips and the importance of keeping them moisturized! Ajaba Naturals has a Rose Lip balm that is sure to keep your lips young, fresh, and hydrated. The ingredient list includes Rosehip, jojoba, coconut, sweet almond, vitamin E, and beeswax. Pair this Rose Lip balm with your dental health regimen, and I’m sure you will start to feel better about your lips and smile.
Happy Father’s Day! I want to send love to all the fathers in the world. I would also like to send a prayer up to my father that I lost in 2000. This year makes 20 years since your passing, and I miss and need you more than ever in these times. You will forever live in my heart and soul daddy!
June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month. “Alzheimer’s is a fatal disease that kills nerve cells and tissues in the brain affecting an individuals' ability to remember, think, and plan," according to the Alzheimer's Association. During this month, many people worldwide show their support for loved ones by fundraising, campaigning, and raising awareness through social media. According to the Alzheimer's Association, "worldwide, an estimated 47 million people live with Alzheimer's and other dementias, and without a change, these numbers are expected to grow to 76 million by 2030." So how can you help? During June, the Alzheimer's Association suggests that people "go purple and use their brains to fight this devastating disease.”
Many companies are encouraged to start having conversations in the workplace about the disease and how it affects so many families. Caring for a loved one with the disease can be very difficult at times and requires long hours and lots of patience and commitment.
In 2009, my Uncle Earnest Sullivan lost his battle with Dementia, and his caretaker, my Aunt Helen, worked tirelessly by his side, ensuring that he received the best care possible.
Many people do not realize the emotional and physical commitment this requires, and these caregivers are often not given all the resources they need to take on such a giant task. To honor his memory and my Aunt's hard work and dedication, I have participated in the fundraising walks and campaigns that support research and resources for families of those living with the disease.
Friends, I challenge you to do the same this month. June 21st is “the longest day." This day honors those living with the disease. To get more information about this day, go to alz.org/thelongestday. Also, the Alzheimer's Workplace Alliance (AWA) is a group you can establish at your workplace that works to support employees and their wellbeing. So stay encouraged and find ways to get active and help. I want to send love and condolences to anyone who has ever lost a loved one to the disease. And would like to extend a great big hug to all the world's caregivers that give up many hours of their time and energy to support their patients. I see you! You are a fantastic gift to this world!
Friends, here are a few suggestions, according to the Alzheimer's Association, that we can incorporate into our daily lives to promote better brain health.
Here' a quick recipe high in antioxidants that help with brain function and activity. And did I mention it is super simple and delicious?
1/2 cup blueberries
¼ cup blackberries
¼ cup raspberries
½ cup sliced strawberries
One tablespoon of Cool whip or Whipped cream
First, place blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries in a bowl. Next, top with a tablespoon of cool whip or whipped cream and enjoy!
Friends, I hope that you all stay healthy and well. Please incorporate these foods and lifestyle suggestions into your daily lives. Brain stimulation and health are so essential right now! Stressors and uncertainties cause us to take our minds off of ourselves and our mental health. Please, love yourself, take care of yourself, and be kind to yourself!
This week I have been using my Ajaba Naturals Citrus Skin Refresher Body Oil. The combination of grapefruit, orange, and lemon creates shine and moisture on my skin. The smell of Citrus is also known to stimulate the brain, and has often been called an “energizing scent.” So when I need just a little pick me up, I rub the oil on my hands and arms and allow the warm fragrance to surround me and enhance my mood. The Ajaba Naturals Citrus Skin Refresher Body Oil with jojoba, argan, and vitamin E oils gives your skin shine and smoothness. You can also warm the oil for a few seconds, and use it as a massage oil for that special father in your life! I'm sure he would be grateful for a gentle, relaxing back massage that promotes brain stimulation and wellbeing.
Welcome back to another week on the Wellness Corner With Cassandra.
Most can agree that 2020 has definitely left its mark on the world. It has caused changes in the way we interact, work, go to the doctor, shop and parent. I remember waking up January 1 2020 energetic and optimist about what the year would bring for myself, my family etc. And as the months quickly began to pass by, I realized that 2020 was going to bring along some challenges.
One of the challenges I would like to focus on this week is parenting. Whether you are a parent to one child or many children, the last few months have created a very delicate space with them. School aged children K-12 have been separated from friends, teachers and support staff that have always been an important part of their daily lives
Parents have had to make new sacrifices with staying at home and schooling their children. Most parents have become the teacher, the coach, the tutor, the cafeteria worker and the custodian. Some adult children have had to come home from college during school closures. This has lead to them experiencing feelings of isolation.
Parents have managed to become a new type of support system for children. One that involves, academic, mental and emotional support. This has not been an easy task for most and there are days where as parents, you may feel as though you don’t have all the answers or the best ways to assist your children.
My encouragement to all parents is to keep giving your children love daily. Create designated times where you and your children go for drives to your favorite to-go food spots. Watch a movie together at least one night a week and pull out one of your board games. Set up a family “circle time” where each family member checks in and speaks for 3-5 minutes about their week, how they are feeling, and what their hope is for the following week.
Creating an environment where topics can be broken down, dissected, and worked through as a family will bring closeness and trust. Having discussions with your children about how being isolated from family and friends affects their wellbeing is actually a good way to take steps toward their overall wellness. Communication plays such a vital role in healing, acceptance, and the ability to remain present in the moment. Allowing children to be active participants in their own life, will encourage self esteem, leadership, and creativity.
For your college children, allow them to express their financial fears, worries for their future, and any other anxieties they might have about readjusting to life back on campus. Be a listening ear without feeling as though you have to hurry and “fix” your children. Hear out their strategies and offer your input once they have invited you to comment. I believe your opinions will be much more appreciated and respected.
Lastly, remember that you are not alone in this. There are parents all over the world that are still figuring out how to discuss the trials and hard times 2020 has brought along for our world. Stay honest and informed, and your children will definitely respect you for that. Also, check in with yourself from time to time to make sure you are finding ways to release negative thoughts and energy, and stay well.
Make sure to check your mail frequently over the summer and pay attention to the correspondence you get from your child’s school district. Surveys should be sent out soon. Answer honestly how you want your child’s education to look for the upcoming school year. And remember, if you need just a little more support, join an online parenting support group, or find a family counseling center where both you and your children can have an online session together and find the extra support you might need.
Here is a super easy 2 ingredient recipe, kindergarteners all the way up to your college kids will enjoy as a healthy alternative to cookies.
2-3 medium sized bananas
4 heaping tablespoons of peanut butter (almond butter works well too)
Peel bananas. Slice bananas in quarter inch slices.
With a spoon, add about a quarter of a teaspoon of peanut butter to each slice.
Next, place two of the banana slices together to
create a sandwich.
Repeat process till all the slices are placed together. Enjoy!
While you are in the kitchen with your children, I suggest lighting an Ajaba Natural Peach, Grapefruit and Thyme candle. I have always loved the smell of grapefruit. You will be pleasantly satisfied with how Ajaba Naturals pairs it with peach and thyme. The scent is energizing and up-lifting. Ajaba Naturals all natural hand poured soy wax candles come with an easy to light wood wick that provides hours of refreshing scent. The essential oils in the candle are incredibly fragrant, and smell becomes even sweeter once the candle is lit. Enjoy your family time and allow the sweet smell of summer to fill your kitchen!
Welcome back for another week! This week I would like to examine stress, its rise in our current conditions, and possible ways of reducing it. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary online, "stress is the physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension." Because our country is facing a time where an immediate change is necessary, the entire stress level of our country is rising. And the effects are being felt emotionally, with rapidly growing tensions.
Many Americans are tired and frustrated with the disenfranchisement that racism and police brutality have brought to this nation. As tension continues to rise, equality for all seems at the forefront of this movement. So it appears that we as Americans are in a state of emergency. An emergency that involves our current social and political climate as well as a major health pandemic. Not to mention some have lost jobs, businesses and are still at home long hours homeschooling children. All of these things, in itself, are enough to have the average person in emotional distress.
In these times I would like to offer this friend. Standing for justice is essential. This does not include crime or vandalism of any kind. But it does include being a voice in the communities we live and serve. Be your best you. Practice being mindful, caring, compassionate, and resourceful. Open your mind to the idea that the conditions our country is facing now are not just a problem facing one group of people, but instead, it is a problem that is facing us all as Americans. Also, Choose your media outlets carefully. Avoid News or websites with inaccurate information mostly formed by opinions and not facts. And limit the time you watch television daily.
Most importantly, make sure you're paying attention to you. Are you staying physically active? Are you connecting with family and friends? Have you set aside some time in your day for prayer and meditation? Are you taking moments to process and breathe? If you have not started these things, start including them in your day today. Stress is real, and the last thing you want to do is create a health condition for yourself once the pandemic is over. In your quiet time write down a list of things that you would like to achieve in this season of life and set some time out to get it all done. America needs people willing able and to work for change. As stay at home orders begin slowly lifting, think about how you can donate time, money, and resources to non-profits in your area. Also, think about the informed individual you want to be when you arrive back at work. Stay conscious and use language that is inclusive, enlightened, and effective. Make it a goal to do better and be better. Check-in with your kids daily. They can tell when your stress levels and emotions are high. Set aside time where you connect with them and find out how everything occurring in the world is affecting their hearts and minds. Engage in several family talks a week, and find new ways to process the information we are all getting through healthy practices of communication, family engagement, and compassion.
Please keep up to date with the CDC's hand washing and sanitizing practices, as well as social distancing in efforts to keep yourself and others safe. And most importantly have faith!
This week I wanted to try something a little different by giving you a few of my favorite foods that help to reduce stress levels. Please add these items to your grocery list. I have also included one of my favorite guacamole recipes down below!
1. Avocados
2. Nuts
3. Fatty Fish
4. Chamomile Tea
5. Dark Chocolate
3 medium-size avocados peeled and pitted
1 lime
1 teaspoon garlic salt
2 tomatoes diced
3 green onions diced
4 tablespoons of chopped cilantro
Add peeled and pitted avocados to a medium-size mixing bowl. Add diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, and green onions to the bowl. Next, fold those ingredients together in the bowl with a fork to your desired chunkiness. Add 1 teaspoon garlic salt and squeeze about a teaspoon of lime into the bowl. Stir and taste. Add additional garlic salt or lime if needed.
I like to pair my guacamole with Trader Joes Veggie and Flaxseed Tortilla Chips for some additional health fatty acids. Enjoy!
So friends, this week as we are processing through stress, I suggest using the Ajaba Naturals Sugar Body Scrub in your wellness routine.
Exfoliation is a two-part process where dead skin is removed and new skin is revealed underneath. New ways of thinking parallel this. For instance, if we want to see the lasting change, we have to remove old ways of dealing and coping with the things that affect us. This process will help to reveal new layers underneath the surface, that are both smoother and better. Create a mood for yourself where you allow your mind to engage with your actions.
Two of my favorite scents include the Vanilla and Brown Sugar All Natural Sugar Body Scrub, and the Sugar Plum Sugar Body Scrub. Both smell incredibly delicious and work extremely well with exfoliating and removing dead skin from your legs, arms, feet, and back. For best usage wash your skin first. Next, use the scooper to add two scoops into damp hands. Lastly, rub the scrub on your desired areas of skin in circular motions and rinse. Remember to moisturize directly after to add moisture back to your skin. As hot weather approaches, scrubs are a great way to get skin ready for tanning, and sun exposure. Exfoliation is a great idea to add to your skincare regime to promote a more even skin tone, and softer skin overall.
I hope you have a wonderful and less stressful week ahead, and I will see you back here next week on the Wellness Corner with Cassandra, as we talk more about wellness and wellbeing!
]]>Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy,
it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
Thank you for joining me this week on the Wellness Corner. First, I would like to start off by expressing my extreme gratitude for all the love and support the last couple weeks. It does not go unnoticed! So let’s jump right in. This week, unfortunately our country has seen more trying times. It has been difficult to look toward the good, when every social media and press outlet has shown us with live footage, the devastating and senseless murder of George Floyd.
Our country is facing turmoil, divide, and the scars left by our past. Very deep wounds, that only love, reconciliation, and reform can combat. So friends, you may wonder how does this tie into your own wellness or wellbeing.
When we use good moral judgement, kindness, affirmative language, and model good habits, we can influence our communities in which we serve. Love is this very special gift that we are able to give that costs us nothing, and in return gives us back so much more. Love is the secret potion to living less toxic lives, choosing positivity over violence and creating spaces for all humankind to thrive. When we love, we penetrate a part of our selves that attaches to our overall well-being. And when we silence our moral consciousness we cut off our connection to the higher purpose. We do ourselves and others a disservice when we turn our heads to deliberate crime and acts of malicious brutality.
When we neglect to treat all human beings fairly and with equal respect we add to the growing rate of disparities amongst oppressed communities of people.
Some may ask, how does what is going on in the world connect to me directly? They may also add, if I am not the oppressor, what can I do aid in the unrest, chaos, and confusion? Most importantly we have to understand that even if we are not the direct oppressors, yet we still benefit in any way from those that are being oppressed, it just applies fuel on already burning flames.
So this week friends, take out a moment to look at parts of your life where standing against injustice, and working toward true equality and love for all can help you, your family, neighbors, colleagues, etc and develop a plan on how you would like to positively impact those communities.
My dear friends, finding a purpose, and spreading and giving love will fill you with peace and a sense of wellbeing. Aiding in the overall Wellness of yourself and the people around you. So, don’t get discouraged, fearful or anxious. Swap out those emotions with love, faith and hope for better times and days to come in our future. Please stay progressive, positive, aware and active!
The Wellness Corner with Cassandra and Ajaba Naturals offer our deepest condolences and prayers to the family and friends of George Floyd.
In the same order that a recipe comes together with several ingredients mixed in, society as a whole works in similar ways. There are multiple levels of change that have to be mixed in together to create systems that create equality for all people. As you share this recipe with friends and family, keep in mind which ingredient you want in the bowl of effective change.
Here’s an uplifting recipe from Food Network to share with family, friends, and co-workers to spread a little extra Love!

After enjoying your cheat day by having a little cake, I suggest jumpstarting your newfound commitment to love and awareness by trying the heart shaped Green Tea Lotion Bar by Ajaba Naturals.
Not only does this bar smell delicious with its coconut and mango butter ingredients, when rubbed across the skin it penetrates and warms creating a thin creamy moisturizing feel. The added beeswax is also an important component in helping to lock in moisture. In addition to that, I recently discovered that beeswax has anti-inflammatory properties.
For best application, rub the the lotion bar on the skin areas most affected by dryness, such as elbows, knees, and hands. You will be pleasantly surprised how pliable the Green Tea Lotion Bar is on your skin. Remember to get your skin nice and clean, find a quiet place to sit and get to rubbing a little love on top of your skin with the Heart shaped Lotion Bar and always remember to keep awareness in your heart. And I will see you back here next week on the Wellness Corner.

Thank you for joining me on the Wellness Corner. This week friends I want to suggest that we get moving together! If you are anything like me the first few weeks of quarantine were all about stocking up on food, supplies, and protective gear, for the uncertainty that was to come in our lives. Additionally this included for me, eating a large portion of the food I purchased, while stressing over when and how I would return to work and what my new normal would look like. I remember attending my last staff meeting on a Friday in March 2020, when we were given inconsistent information on whether or not we would return on Monday. This prompted some stress in my body and all those extra crackers, peanut butter, and other processed snacks (with long shelf life) became very comforting, and might I say, quite tasty!
After several weeks of this I noticed that I was feeling sluggish, and I was becoming less active. A couple weeks ago I decided that I had enough of feeling bad and decided to get active. As a commitment to myself, I use at least 30 minutes of my day to walk, work out, or dance to my favorite playlist. And friends, I have seen so much improvement in my mood, perception and outlook on what is to come for the future.
Now we all know that there is no magic solution that will totally eliminate our stressors, however a faith and a commitment to our wellness will keep us all encouraged. When my body is healthy, my emotional health is at its best! And as I have mentioned to you every week, routine is key to successful results. So make this a fun routine you can incorporate into you daily life in this season. Whether you are working from home, working outside the home, or even in the process of starting a new career. Taking care of your body is so essential right now. Here is one of my favorite smoothie recipes to give you some energy to get Moving!
1 and 1/2 Banana
1 cup Mango
2 cups of Spinach
1 cup Pineapple
1 cup ice
1 1/2 cup water or favorite juice
Add Bananas, mango spinach and pineapple to the blender. Next add water or your favorite juice, and ice cubes. (You may need to add a splash more of water or juice, depending on your blender) Blend to your desired thickness and enjoy!
Because I am all about being rewarded for hard work, three times a week, I suggest using the Ajaba Naturals Green Tea All Natural Shimmering Bubble Bath and Calming Soaking Powder on your feet. After a nice hot shower, I grab my small rectangular bucket and I add a scoop of the powder. I then fill the bucket about 3/4 full of warm water.
Next, I place my feet into the bucket and allow them to soak for around 30 minutes. Lastly I remove my feet, pat them dry, and enjoy the softness of my feet as well as the calming Green tea scent. To lock in the moisture, I then add my favorite oil or moisturizing cream to my feet. This process allows me to pause, reflect and enjoy the sensation.
Too often in the past, I have neglected my feet. I now understand the importance of taking care of my feet and I have recently learned that tired feet affect my overall feeling of Wellness. I have also used the Ajaba Naturals Green Tea Bubble Bath and Calming Soaking Powder in the bathtub on occasions. The powder forms great bubbles and the smell is so pleasant. It also has moisturizing properties that keep your skin feeling soft even when you leave the bath water.
A nice warm bath is great when you can make extra time in your schedule to enjoy a little rest and relaxation. So this week friends let's show our feet that they are loved and appreciated for all they do. Let's get soaking! And I will see you back here next week as we talk more about Wellness and Wellbeing.
]]>Thank you for joining me this week as I highlight one of my favorite Ajaba Naturals products. Additionally, I will also leave you with some healthy tips to assist you with your overall Wellness and Wellbeing! So let’s jump right in.
I wanted to start off the week by asking a couple questions, that I would really like for you to answer honestly with yourself. Are you feeling an increase in tension, worry, agitation or sleeplessness? Are you experiencing new forms of pressure or nervousness? If you have answered yes to any of these you are not alone. We are all encountering a new era where we have to be careful and cautious with every step we take.
We now understand that the actions we take, not only affect our wellbeing, but they also affect our children, aging parents, neighbors, and community members. And to add to our stress levels we have News outlets releasing new information daily, (which often feels like hourly). This can feel a bit unbearable at times. But you will get through this!
Ajaba Naturals has an amazing Lavender Calming Bath and Body Oil that I am just in love with! I have been using the oil, paired with a wellness night routine and I have seen results. Remember friends, routine is so key when you want to see results, so follow these steps to get started on your journey to find some calm in the midst of the chaos. Your inner and outward self will love you for the extra care.
First, go ahead run that hot shower and wash away the day’s stress from your body. After you have wiped away the excess water off your skin, apply the oil to your hands, work your way to your arms, and then reach down to your stomach. Take a deep breath, and then rub the oil onto your legs. Lastly, reach for your feet and massage the oil on top and on the bottom. Once you have applied a thin layer to each part of your body. Reach your hands to your face and take in a deep breath, and allow the fragrance of the lavender to calm your senses and center you in the moment. If there are any additional pressure points you would like to add the oil to, go ahead and do so This is your very own routine so make it yours!
Your body should now feel moisturized and the smell of lavender should surround you. Expect the smell of lavender to stay on your skin all night and when you awake in the morning, you should also feel the softness the oil provides.
Ajaba Naturals Lavender Calming Bath & Body Oil is infused with moisturizing oils, such a jojoba, argan, and rose hip, which aids in its moisturizing and calming properties. The Lavender Calming Oil has been designed to encourage a better sense of peaceful emotion.
Now Let's talk Wellness. In addition to the Ajaba Naturals Lavender Calming Oil, I’d like to share this calming tea recipe with you to aid with your night time routine. It is a simple recipe one of my dear Aunties shared with me, to help me with sleeplessness. I think you may already have the ingredients in your cabinet already.
2 cups of Water
3 Bay leaves
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Boil 2 cups of water. While water is boiling, add Bay leaves and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon to the boiling mixture. When the water turns a dark rich color, turn off stove and pour the mixture from the pot into your favorite mug. Once slightly cooled, sip the tea and enjoy!
Whether your thing is prayer or meditation. Take a moment to reflect on all the positive aspects of your day, and allow your thoughts to clear and get ready for a good night’s sleep. Dim the lights in the space you are in, or turn them completely off. Put on some nature sounds and exist in the calmness of the moment you have created. Allow the warmth that you now feel in your stomach from the tea to ease your tension and calm your nerves. Get into a comfortable place where you can rest. Whisper positive affirmations to yourself. Close your eyes and allow sleep to come over you! Thanks again friends for visiting The Wellness Corner, and I will see you again next Monday with more Tips and a New Ajaba Naturals product. Sweet dreams Friends!

]]>So friends, Lets get started!
With my increased hand washing post pandemic, I find that my hands have become extremely dry and flaky. I have combated this by applying the All Natural Oatmeal & Coconut Unscented Lotion to my skin three times a day. First, beginning when I awake in the morning. Next, right after lunch . And Lastly right before bed. Routine is so vital when it comes to great long term care of skin! Because the Ajaba Naturals lotion does not leave behind a greasy residue, the pores in my skin are easily penetrated and the feeling of softness lasts for hours at time. (Even with my constant hand washing and sanitizing) The All Natural Oatmeal & Coconut Unscented Lotion has a moisturizing formula that is gentle on sensitive skin, however it packs major moisture for even the driest of skin. Leaving skin feeling smooth, soft and hydrated. I am positive you will see improvements in your skin after the first week of using this routine. Happy Moisturizing Friends!
Here are a couple tips to keep you Centered, Healthy and Happy! This week try focusing on good drinking habits. This has nothing to do with happy hour, but everything to do with focusing on Water! What we put into our bodies matters so much. And so this week I suggest swapping sugary drinks with water as well as incorporating water with all three meals in your day. You can even get a little fancy if you want to throw in a cucumber, some fresh mint or lemon. But it is totally not necessary. Our skin thirsts for water. And your skin will be thankful for the minor adjustment to your diet. Water is known to also get rid of toxins in your system, and studies have shown that it can help with skin issues, such as acne. Overall water is a simple way to add hydration back into your body and assist your skin with achieving natural glow and repair. So get your shine on this week! And I'll catch you next Monday with some new tips! For those of you who like a little extra in your water try this recipe!
6 cups of water
8 Cucumber Slices
4 fresh mint Leaves
1 inch piece ginger root sliced thin and peeled
Ice cubes
2 lemon slices
1 pitcher
Slice 8 pieces of cucumber in circular pieces and add to small pitcher. Add 4 fresh mint leaves to pitcher Next , peel and slice 1 inch piece of ginger root very thinly. Add to pitcher . Lastly, add 6 cups of water. Place ice cubes in your favorite glass, and pour your mixture over it. Add your straw and taste. Remember this is not going to taste like your usually alcoholic mojito. (Go ahead and add a drop of honey, if you just need a little sweet). The properties in the cucumbers will assist in your skin’s overall hydration. Grab a seat on your porch and enjoy the sounds of nature. Raise your head, let the sun touch your face and absorb some good Vitamin D. (Don’t forget the sunscreen!)
